The purpose of providing brake shoes with grooves is to improve their braking performance by modifying the contact surface of the brake shoe lining and its braking media. A braking performance testing on grooved brake shoe and ungrooved brake shoe has been conducted to prove the desired braking performance improvement. It shows that the grooved brake shoe performs better than the ungrooved shoe.
