GETTING THE BEST MILAGE PER CHARGE FROM YOUR ELECTRIC BICYCLE OR ELECTRIC SCOOTER
There are many factors that prevent you from getting the optimum distance per charge on your electric bike or electric scooter. These include actions like using full throttle all the time, accelerating flat out and constantly varying speed. Other factors can include incorrectly inflated tyres, headwinds, towing, heavy loads and hills.
These tips should help improve your distance per charge.
Always charge your battery daily after using even for shorter distances as this will keep your battery in better condition and help to avoid sulphuration.
Check tyre pressure regularly and keep within 5 PSI of maximum pressure. Tyre pressure can be found on side wall of tyre. This also includes the tyre pressure on trailers if towing.
When accelerating do so at a steady increase and try to avoid rapid increases in speed.
Don’t hold the throttle fully open, back off slightly after reaching desired speed. This will improve mileage with little lose of speed.
Use the pedal effect system as much as possible especially on hills and long upward gradients, also always pedal assit on take off. Back of the throttle when going downhill.
Keep brakes adjusted correctly and remember new electric bicycles and electric scooters with drum brakes may need a few trips to allow the shoes to bed in slightly to enable proper adjustment.
